Schmieder-Macy Cup

Named for the original founders of the Front Range Golf Club, the season-long races for the Schmieder Cup and the Macy Cup are back. Our season ending invitational venue changes every year, but is always special. As in the past, you cannot elect to play this event, you must earn a spot to receive an invitation to this tournament. How do you earn a spot?

Each week players will accumulate points based on how they finish in the week’s events. A running total of those points will be tracked all season long so you can follow along and see how you are doing.

Points will be awarded based on lowest gross (Schmieder) and net (Macy) scores for the entire field each week, and players will accumulate points under both scoring systems. Flights ARE NOT considered in point awards; it is how your individual gross and net scores fare against the entire field. Everyone in the field who completes their round will get points. More points are awarded for Majors than standard events. Only individual scores count for point accumulation, so, even in team events…finish all those putts!

Invitations to the Season Finale!

At the end of the season, points leaders will be invited to compete in the FRGC Invitational.

All invited players will be competing for either the Schmieder or the Macy Cup. Points are reset for the final tournament based on the end of the year standings. Points awarded in the final tournament are added to the reset points to determine who takes home the Cups, as well as bragging rights for the year.

The Top 4 in both the Schmieder standings and Macy standings are guaranteed an invitation.

    Additional Invitations

Additional invitations may be available to be awarded to play the final tournament. The remaining spots will be awarded and the field will be filled based on criteria including:

    • Where did you finish in the standings?
    • How many events did you play?
    • Did you win one or more majors?
    • Did you win or finish as a runner up in the Nisenson Match Play tournament?

FRGC retains the right to adjust these policies, if necessary, at any time during the season. All invitations are at the discretion of FRGC.
