FAQ

Question? I play every week with my regular foursome, why should I consider joining
your club?
Answer: We offer events almost every week on a variety of courses so you don’t have to
worry about finding a tee time. We also allow you to test your game in a competitive yet
fun environment…those 3′ putts now have more meaning!

Question? What if I don’t have a handicap?
Answer: All members must have a valid USGA handicap, and we can provide you with
one for only $40. FRGC handicaps run in conjunction with the Colorado Golf
Association and the USGA.

Question? What level of golfer can participate?
Answer: We are open to golfers of all abilities, from scratch golfers, single digit
handicappers to folks with handicaps over 30. The only requirement is to play by the
rules of golf and have a USGA handicap.

Question? What do events cost?
Answer: Prices vary based on the course, but most events are in the $120-$165 range.
The FRGC is very conscious of the rising costs of playing golf and will do everything
possible to keep the cost of our events down. The Front Range Golf Club is a members’
club, meaning that the club was formed to give golfers a chance to play fun, competitive
golf at a variety of golf courses . The FRGC has, by far, the lowest costs associated with
membership when comparing it to the other traveling golf leagues in the Denver area.
Those leagues are designed to make the organizers money. Ours is designed by avid
golfers who want a great golf club to play in.

Question? Do I have to join with someone?
Answer: No. Although members may join with a buddy, or two or three, it is not
necessary. Every effort will be made to pair you up with your buddy at your request.

Question? What if I can’t play all the events?
Answer: Members are welcome to play as many or as few events as they like. Most members play in about 10 events. The only event requirement is in regards to the post-season awards and the year-ending Invitational. You must play in at least eight events to be eligible.

Question? Why are the event fees more than the walk-on fees the club typically charges?
Answer: Your entry includes Green Fees, Cart Fees, Range Balls and covers each week’s Prize Fund. Plus, some courses, for better or worse charge an extra tournament fee that may include things like pro-shop gift certificates, yardage books, golf balls, etc. Most importantly, all tournament fees end up going back into the club. There are no profits being made here, every dollar paid goes back into our events, which is not something you will hear from the other traveling golf tours.

Question? Where do I learn more about the Front Range Golf Club?
Answer: If your questioned aren’t answered here on the website, please feel free to contact mack@mtetechnology.net

FRGC Handicap Service Information
The Front Range Golf Club (FRGC) will be responsible for managing your official handicap, if you have elected to have the FRGC as your home club.

By having an official handicap, you have also become a member of the Colorado Golf Association (CGA). For more information on the CGA, please visit its website at: www.coloradogolf.org.

What is a handicap?
A USGA Handicap Index is calculated in a way to reflect a golfer’s POTENTIAL ability. A golfer is expected to play to his/her Course Handicap only about 25 PERCENT of the time. A Handicap Index is a tool that measures your potential golfing ability. It is not an average of your scores. If you average 90 on a short, less difficult course, and your friend averages 90 on a long, more difficult course, are you both equal in playing ability? Probably not. Your friend would likely average an 85 on your course, and you might average a 95 on his course. A Handicap Index is accurate because it is based on your scores and the difficulty level of the courses you achieve them on.

How do I post my scores?
First of all, your 18-hole score in every FRGC event will be entered for you by the Club. You DO NOT NEED to enter scores following an FRGC Event.

However, each time you play golf outside of an FRGC Event, you are REQUIRED to post your score. On completion of a round (including 9 hole rounds) simply go to the pro shop of the course you just played and use the GHIN computer. This will involve using the “guest score” option, and entering your GHIN Number and selecting which set of tees you used and entering your score. Alternately, you can enter your scores at GHIN.com or by using the USGA/GHIN mobile app. Your score will automatically be routed to the FRGC. For all FRGC events, the tournament staff will be posting the scores of all players at the completion of the round, even if the FRGC does not maintain their handicap. Again, you should NOT post scores from FRGC events.

There are also limits on the maximum score you may absorb on your scorecard and these limits MUST be taken into account when posting your scores. Under the recently revised USGA rules, the maximum score you may enter on any hole is “net double bogey.” To determine your maximum score on any hole, first covert your USGA handicap to your course handicap for a given course based on your tee box selection. That determines the number of strokes you receive on any given hole. The mobile USGA/GHIN app will automatically calculate your course handicap by using the Handicap Calculator option.

Hint: If you are interested in further analyzing your performance on par 3, par 4, and par 5’s you may enter your score on each hole in the mobile app. Otherwise, you can just enter your total score.

A Handicap Index determined from scores to which the acceptable maximum score has not been applied may not be termed a USGA Handicap Index.

How do I check my handicap index?
You can check your handicap on the Internet. GHIN updates the Internet database of ACTIVE USGA Handicaps DAILY. Go to www.GHIN.com click on handicap lookup, and then enter your GHIN. You may also use the USGA/GHIN mobile app.If you have handicap questions that are not answered here, please contact mack@mtetechnology.net
