Nisenson Match Play

The Nisenson Cup is a season long match play tournament that pits players in head-to-head matches, and is during our regular stroke play events. The Nisenson is a handicapped (Net) single elimination event. We will arrange the matches, and pare down the field over the course of the season until we get to the final two, who will then compete for the title of Nisenson Match Play Champion. The winner will get their name inscribed on the Cup, and gain 12-month ownership of the Trophy, as well as a spot in THE SEASON ENDING INVITATIONAL.

There is no additional cost to joining the Match Play tournament. If you want a spot in the bracket, you must RSVP as soon as possible, before it fills up.

Some other rules of note:

FRGC will make good faith efforts to manage the bracket and schedule matches during the regular event season.  However, participants are responsible to ensure that they play as scheduled, so that all matches can be completed in a timely manner.

All players must complete their matches before the dates listed below, or else their match will be forfeited (if your opponent is available and willing to play) or be determined by a coin flip (when both participants are repeatedly unavailable). Match Play competitors MAY, if necessary and with FRGC approval, schedule a match outside of the FRGC events, at a mutually acceptable location.

Round Deadlines:
Round 1: By June 9th
Round 2: By July 14th
Round 3: By August 11th
Round 4: By September 8th
Round 5: By September 22th

Tie Breakers:
If you end the 18-hole match in a draw, the two competitors have three options. Optimally, players should talk to the course and see if they can get back out in a sudden death situation. Hole stroke “DOTS” apply as they did in the first 18 holes.

If that cannot work with the course or the players, then players need to arrange a nine-hole playoff match sometime in the next few days at a mutually chosen location. FRGC will identify your course handicaps and make players aware before play. If, in the time that it takes to schedule the follow up match, a handicap revision takes place, the NEW handicaps will be used to calculate course handicaps for the rematch.

If the first two options are not possible or reasonable, then a SCORECARD PLAYOFF will be conducted by FRGC. Details of that playoff will be provided by the individual running the event that day. FRGC decisions regarding playoffs are final.
